How Will Dubai and noon Boost SMEs in the Digital Economy?

The partnership aims to empower SMEs with e-commerce tools, enhanced online visibility, and rapid delivery services, advancing the goals of Dubai's Economic Agenda D33.

So, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism has partnered with noon, which is a major local e-commerce platform, to launch a program aimed at boosting the growth of SMEs in Dubai. This collaboration is part of the broader Dubai Traders initiative, which is one of ten major projects announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as part of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. The goal here is to help SMEs in Dubai adopt digital tools and e-commerce platforms, so they can grow both locally and globally.

The Dubai Traders initiative is designed to make Dubai a global hub for entrepreneurship and SME development by providing these businesses with the resources to establish a strong online presence, streamline their supply chains, and access e-commerce channels. The idea is to partner with key private sector players, like noon, and offer SMEs a suite of tools and incentives to engage more easily with online customers.

Now, in this specific partnership, noon will help these SMEs create a solid e-commerce presence by offering them an onboarding incentive package. This means both new and existing sellers will get support to set up their online stores and enhance their visibility on the noon platform. On top of that, Emirati sellers will get extra benefits through noon’s Mahaliprogram, which offers personalised support.

Some exclusive incentives for SMEs participating in the Dubai Traders program include:

  1. Onboarding support: A tailored onboarding experience with dedicated account managers to guide them through the setup process.

  2. Training: Access to workshops and seminars to help them navigate the digital marketplace.

  3. Increased visibility: Advertising credits and priority product placements on noon’s platform.

  4. Rapid delivery: Access to noon’s quick delivery service, which promises delivery within 15 minutes for eligible sellers.

Hadi Badri from the Dubai Economic Development Corporation explained that SMEs are vital to Dubai's economy, and this partnership with noon is crucial in helping local businesses succeed in the digital space. He believes this will significantly boost Dubai’s digital economy and promote innovation.

Faraz Khalid, the CEO of noon, echoed this by saying that noon’s mission has always been to empower local entrepreneurs, and this initiative with DET will help them grow their online presence and reach new customers through noon’s tools and delivery network.

Overall, this partnership shows how government and private sector collaboration can create a strong ecosystem to support SMEs in Dubai and help drive the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda.
