Serco Strengthens Commitment to Sustainability with Climatize Merger
In a move aimed at supporting its Environmental, Social, and Governance capabilities, global public services company Serco has successfully acquired Climatize, a renowned sustainability and engineering consultancy based in the UAE. The acquisition, announced one year after the launch of Serco’s Advisory with Purpose division, underscores the company's commitment to delivering top-tier sustainability and environmental services.
The acquisition positions Serco to provide an unparalleled 'first in market' offering by combining its international capabilities and regional network with Climatize's specialist skills in green building engineering and sustainability strategies. This unique synergy aims to empower governments and businesses in achieving their ESG goals and contribute to a better future, aligning with Serco’s strategy to lead with purpose.
Founded in 2018, Climatize brings a wealth of consultancy-based services to Serco, including net zero and green building consultancy, life cycle assessments, resource efficiency management, and integrations of green technologies. The collaboration aims to assist clients in meeting their ESG commitments and reducing operational costs through digital asset management.
The move is not only anticipated to enhance Serco's capabilities in the region but also to generate employment opportunities as part of the company's commitment to bringing national visions to life. Serco's Advisory with Purpose division, which initiated its operations in 2023, celebrates its first successful year with this acquisition.
Commenting on the acquisition, Phil Malem, CEO of Serco Middle East, emphasised the importance of sustainability, stating, “Sustainability and leading with purpose is no longer simply a choice, it’s an imperative. With this acquisition, we will not only be able to bolster our advisory capabilities but actively help governments and organisations accelerate their journey towards net zero, impacting a better future.”
