The reason behind the recent launch of Careem Now
What do you do around lunch time? Most likely, you discuss with your colleagues what you want to eat and open an app or website to order some tasty and healthy meals. There is plenty of choice, sometimes making it difficult to even make a choice — a concept that the popular startup Lunch:ON has capitalised on with their easy menus.
However, with the recent announcement of Careem Now, the ride-hailing company’s own delivery platform, there is another company in the space; they will compete with food delivery platforms like Deliveroo, Talabat, Uber Eats, Zomato, and others. The logical question to ask is: what motivated Careem to move into this industry? Seeing the fierce competition, the company must see an opportunity that they cannot pass on. With the launch, Careem is reported to invest more than $150 million in its new delivery platform.
