Dubai and Canada boost trade and exports opportunities
Dubai Exports, an agency of the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED), Government of Dubai, and the Canadian Business Council of Dubai and Northern Emirates (CBC), have jointly hosted a networking breakfast for companies to develop business relationships and conduct trade.
Through this networking breakfast, both Dubai Exports and the Canadian Business Council provided the opportunity for Canadian buyers to meet with the UAE-based companies.
“As a government body charged with promoting exports from the Emirate, it is our objective to enhance the competitiveness of Dubai. Such networking events are one of the tools we use to encourage our members to explore other trade opportunities in different key markets,” said Engineer Saed Al Awadi, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Exports.
“Delegates to this event were also presented with the export services we currently offer and how we can assist them to meet potential new international customers. We are looking forward to events such as this would yield positive results for our local companies and eventually contribute significantly to the country’s GDP,” he added.
According to Dubai Customs sources-, Dubai’s direct exports to Canada in 2010 registered 96 Million AED, direct re-exports 87 Million AED and FZ exports 48 Million AED .
The Canadian Business Council of Dubai and Northern Emirates was established in 1993 as a not-for-profit business association, and currently holds a growing roster of over 345 members. “We are very pleased to co-host this networking event with Dubai Exports, which lends to CBC’s objective of building a bridge between Canadian companies and organisations dedicated to the development of trade between Canada and the Middle East” said Marie-Josee Primeau, Chairman of the CBC.
During the networking breakfast, both Dubai Exports and Canada Export Centre presented their services to the delegates. The local companies that attended the networking breakfast represented sectors as: food, chemicals, constructions, and services.
Canada Export Centre connects buyers and sellers of products and services with the primary objective of generating sales. The Centre also offers customised services and business development tools to help establish trade relationships with other organisations such as Dubai Exports.
