Apple’s WWDC 2019: All you need to know

We round-up the top ten highlights of the event.

The anticipated Apple Worldwide Developer’s Conference saw many updates, as usual. Here are the top ten highlights:

  1. iOS 13 introduces an all-new system-wide dark mode.

  2. Apple redesigned core apps like Safari and Mail to look better on your iPhone.

  3. Apple Music now gives you live lyrics feature. Welcome phone Karaoke.

  4. Finally introduces the Swype-like type feature, called Quick Path.

  5. Imitates WhatsApp, giving Messages a profile picture and display name.

  6. You can now “Sign in with Apple” says Apple software chief Craig Federighi, “without revealing any personal information.”

  7. Apple Watch gets its own App Store, allowing developers to optimise the design for the small screen. Also gets health tracking updates.

  8. You can now use your iPad as a secondary screen or a drawing surface.

  9. One step closer to replacing laptops with iPads, with new features that allow split screen view, widgets on the home screen, and connection to USB sticks.

  10. Apple iTunes gets split into Apple Music, Apple Podcasts and Apple TV.
