Dubai's Step Conference Announces Global Expansion Plans
One of Dubai's leading technology conference, Step Conference, announced its global expansion plans at this year’s event. In its 12th year, the organisers are offering a partner hosting model for international event organizers. This new approach responds to the increasing demand for Step Conference in other markets beyond UAE and Saudi Arabia.
The model differs from traditional franchising by offering significant support from the central Step team in Dubai to local organizers. This support includes training, programming assistance, production support, sponsorship data and tools, brand assets, and access to the team's extensive event experience.
It leverages the growing global interest from governments in supporting startups within key cities. According to Ray Dargham, Step co-founder and CEO, "We've built a strong brand since launching here 12 years ago. With interest from markets like Pakistan, Turkey, and Africa, we're taking our Dubai brand global while offering a new, exciting approach to international events." According to Step, there has also been interest shown from potential event partners in Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait and Lebanon.
Over the past 12 years, Step Conference has connected thousands of startups from 58 countries, with a collective funding of over $800 million. In 2024, the event featured 350 startups participating in over 500 curated meetings with 150+ venture capital firms representing $8.2 billion in funds. The event attracted over 8,000 international attendees, further solidifying Dubai's position on the global tech map.
