IKEA and Ori Living partner up to bring robot furniture into our homes

Levelling up furniture

Unconnected simple robot furnitures are not new. They’ve been in existence since some time now, with designers in Italy and the rest of the world. However, they have been developed on small scales, making them harder to come by and expensive to buy.

Since apartment sizes in major cities around the world are shrinking, the need for robotic furnitures that go from a bed to storage space and working table, is on the rise. Especially in countries with smaller residential spaces, such as Japan and Hong Kong.

Essentially it is about efficient design that helps people make most of their limited spaces. This need is now being addressed. IKEA and Ori Living are partnering up to bring robotic furniture into our homes.

This new robotic furniture line of IKEA will be designed by Ori Systems, while the manufacturing responsibility will be with IKEA, as it has a more sophisticated supply chain.
